Offensive MVP
Wide receiver- Riley Cooper
Last season, Cooper was one of Nick Fole’s favorites targets, but so far this season Cooper has done little to play up to his 25 million dollar contract signed in the off- season. Cooper missed most of training camp due to a foot/ankle injury, so it is not a major surprise he has started the season slowly. Expect Cooper to have his first big game of 2014, especially in the red zone. Expect Cooper to have 75 yards and two scores.
Defensive MVP
Safety- Malcolm Jenkins
Jenkins appears to be one of the biggest steals in free agency this season. Many experts were surprised when the Eagles did not target superstar free agent safeties such as TJ Ward or Jarius Bryd. Yet, so far this season Jenkins has outperformed both Ward and Bryd, and through four games he has proven to be the Bird’s best defensive player registering an interception in the Eagle’s last three matchups. Expect Jenkins to come away with another pivotal interception.
X-Factor
Return of right tackle Lane Johnson
The Eagle’s ground game has abysmal compared to the rushing attack of last season. Part of the struggles can be attributed to the decimation of the Eagle’s offensive line. Johnson missed the first four games due to a PED (performance enhancing drugs) suspension. He has looked strong in his first practices back, and his return will allow Todd Hereamans to return from right tackle to right guard where he is better suited. If Johnson’s return can spark the Eagles rushing attack, the Eagles should be able to come away with a victory.
Final Prediction
The Eagles struggled mightily on offense last week against the Niners, but the should be able to get back on track this week. The Eagles pass rush was strong last week, and the Eagles should be able to continue bringing pressure. Expect the Eagles ground game to get back on track, and the Eagles to record at least four sacks.
